Bless me LJ for I have sinned, it has been 8 months, 29 days, a lot of hours and thousands of minutes yadda, yadda since my last posting. I have been a bad girl. I have not been painting, but I have been creative so that is a good thing. My art has fallen by the wayside, but I have been working on another project that will debut Labor Day of next year. Stay tuned. That doesn't mean I am not going to be painting however. I have got some ideas up my sleeves and hopefully I will have some new art to feature in 2010. 2010? Can you believe that?! We are suppose to be all futuristic with flying cars. Yeah, not in my lifetime . . . Last night was a "Buy it, Or Burn It" art show at one of Atlanta's art supporters Doogallery. J and I both sold out. Even though the prices were seriously reduced, we still made out very well considering the work was a little dated. And yes, some other artist did go into the fire. Alot of art was saved though so that was a good thing and the proceeds went to the Red Cross for the flood victims. The show was awesome and I want to do it again. Not only does it give people an opportunity to save and buy local art at reduced prices, but the artist get to purge their old art and make a little money for themselves and local causes. The show also helped to boost my ego a bit. I forgot how good it felt to have people appreciate your art and really connect to it. All my babies found homes and that is how it should be with art. I am slowly but surely getting rid of my old art. I have sold a ton on Ebay over the last year as well. It feels good to purge. I have been doing alot of purging the last couple of years both physically and emotionally so why not creatively as well? I want to start the New Year off fresh and new with bigger and better art. I have found that quantity doesn't matter so much as quality. I would rather create one painting a year and have it be my utmost and best than paint a bunch of unfocused works that will sit in my shed forever while I wait on a show. Anyhow, it is all good. If anything juicy happens, I'll keep you posted.

We successfully completed my first live show last night. I say "we" because my guest James Hargett held the show while I was otherwise distracted. Why distracted you say? Well my producer, who is also my father, neglected to tell me until we got there that not only would there be call-ins, but there would be live chat going on while I was talking to James. So what you see is me distracted while I am reading this computer screen and trying to let other people in on the conversation. All in all, it was a good show and James was a charming guest. I almost wish we had more time to delve into his brain, but the show is only 30min. Plus the way I was looking, I was almost relieved when it was over ;) Once bitten. I know how to do it next time (May include martinis). I can't wait for the next show! If you are in the Atlanta area and want to be on it email me: keisha.shipp@yahoo.com

I hope everyone is having a good year so far. 2009 seems to be promising and I am looking forward to making it as artistically sucessful as possible. Here is my new painting of the New Year. It was a present to my father and his wife on Christmas actually, but it is the first after a very long hiatus. In other good news, I will be hosting an online artshow called "Behind The Canvas." It will be a weekly show featuring local artists, collectors, gallery owners etc . . . I will keep you posted on when we will start airing and on what day,but in the meantime if you wish to be on the show, email me your contact information and I will get back to you about the line-up. I also have a new website called Keisha Shipp Contemporary Art. You can check it out at keishashipp.net I hope everyone is doing well and I will keep you posted on good things. Happy New Year!

Expose Yourself Spirits In Motion is proud to present “Naked,” a contemporary art show by local artist Keisha Shipp. The show is a celebration of human emotion, represented by the contemporary human form, in oil and multi-media paintings. This is the first solo show by the artist, who has actively participated in Atlanta art festivals, community fundraisers and group shows for almost a decade. Her art has been featured in small cafes in downtown atlanta to fine dining establishements in Buckhead. “Keisha’s paintings were well recieved in the resturant by both the staff and patrons,” says Arnaud Michel owner of Anis restuarant in Buckhead. “It is always a pleasure to have them on the walls. I wish her much success with the show.” In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Spirtis In Motion will donate a portion of the profits to The American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer. Donation forms will also be available at the show for those wanting to give directly to the ACS. The show will be held Friday, October 20th, 2006 from 5-9pm. at The House Nightclub in Underground Atlanta 94 Upper Pryor Street SW, Atlanta 30303. For more details call 678.358.7485.
